My Brother's Groom Cake!

Last week was Wedding Preparation Week! My baby brother got married on Saturday and there was much to be done. We have been busy working out all of the details for months but last week was the climax of busyness. There was much to be done and I will tell you all about it but I reserve this post for the groom's cake only. I began my baking on Thursday. 9 layers of cake to assemble 3-3layer cakes and 200+ peanut butter balls. It began at 8:00am and by 11:00 pm I was feeling it in the back area. Whew! I have never been so glad to leave my kitchen. The kids were pretty understanding as we schooled in between oven timers going off and dipping peanut butter balls. At one point, 8:00pm, I was dipping peanut butter balls, talking with Joey about his day, having Andrew try on his tux and painting Alora's toe nails with curling iron plugged in doing a test run on her hair. This is the kind of day Thursday was.
Everything was loaded in to the fridge and freezer for the finishing touches on Friday.

The cakes were German Chocolate with fudge filling and coated with a chocolate ganache!

I loaded them into their boxes with about an hour to spare before leaving for rehearsal dinner.
Whew!

I dropped all of the food off on Friday night so that I could just worry about getting Joey, Andrew, Alora and I in our appropriate clothing on time, on Saturday. The ladies at the church took over from there and boy did they take over!
It was beautiful!

Sugar coated grapes, Parsley leaves, Magnolia leaves and pineapple finished off the table. It was a beautiful groom's table. They made my cakes look far more fabulous than I did.

There was not a bite of cake or a peanut butter left! Some people didn't even get any cake. What a compliment! The best compliment ever, actually. Groom's cake --check.
Part Two to come.
