Nicole's Baby Shower Cakes

It has been a while since I have had a big cake project. My sister-in-law's baby shower was this past weekend and there were 75 possible guests expected. Making a cake that large is sometimes hard to carry and transport so I decided to do something different. I made 3 CAKES!
The baby's bedding is soooooo cute. It has these cute little jungle animals and so I made copies off the internet, blew up the pics real big for sizing on the cake and then went to work.
I baked the cakes Friday night and then finished them off all day Saturday. This turned out to be a 12 hour affair but it was very fun. First, I iced them all over. Second, color and make the fondant. Third, spread fondant over the cake. Fourth, make animals out of fondant and set aside. Fifth, using cardboard frame (made by Joey) trace box on top of cake for frame. Sixth, place animals on cake and then decorate with icing. Seventh, decorate the rest. Eighth, place cakes back in fridge. Ninth, find boxes for transporting. Tenth, pray they make it 1 1/2 hours away without injuries.
All homemade, all fun, all love.
Friends Kym and Tammie came over and talked in my kitchen to give me company. What great buddies! All day project and my brother and Nicole loved it. Nicole had this flavor cake at my mom's bday party and has had cravings ever since, so she really enjoyed it. Check them out on the table cloths! The colors worked perfectly with what the ladies at the church had done. Awesome!
